The MK1 Saloon 104 tooth flywheel is a common customisationas the starter is a variant OF THE XK M45 and there were a lot of these scrapped out. Many XKs have had starter & flywheel ( and even bellhousing ) swaps in their history. REMEMBER THE STANDARD XK120, XK140 & XK150įLYWHEEL IS A 132 TOOTH UNIT, SO PLEASE DO COUNT YOUR TEETH AND ENSURE IT IS CORRECT BEFORE ORDERING, AS WE CAN OBTAIN RATIO STARTER GEARS TO MATCH YOUR CAR. Comes with full instructions and all additional electrical fittings needed for fitting to XK. They do come with correct XK bellhousing fitting flange (unlike some other brands, that charge you £50 extra for an adaptor) which is also fully rotatable if you are building a Custom application, to avoid body obstruction. This type of motor use a pushing pinion, which is opposite to the Classic XK pull- through design, so flywheels benefit from a lead-in chamfer or new ring gear with lead in on motor side if rebuilding, but it is not essential. This enables the fitting of lighter, modern tech motor units into classic engines, giving the benefits of lower current draw and a powerful, high torque kick-over. These units are based on powerful, modern production starter motors and have a custom built, gear made to fit each vehicle as required.
